Lonely Woman

from Painting & Drawing by Bull Kelp

/

lyrics

There's a lonely woman inside of me
Making up a bed for company
Fire in the hearth, soup on the fire
Mending pillowcases as the sun retires

Morning comes, no-one came
The lonely woman fills with rage
She tears the blankets to shreds
Takes an axe to the bed

In the Paperchase, I am waves lapping on the day
Swaying like bull kelp in a muted summer storm
Grieving for my structures that have all been washed away
Rise into the next month, get some rest each evening

There's an angry people inside of me
Killing off eachother in blind fury
Fire in their eyes, villages on fire
Put the child down the mine, take whatever he finds
If he survives
